Miller ll, KB5TKF left a note asking if anyone has used the subject nos setting. I expect the answer is not very many hams are even aware of the 2 smtp modes available. It talks to the problem of "default settings". We (I at least) tend to assume the good people that write the code know what's best.... But if your trying to use view.exe as your external mailer for jnos 1.10xx then you need to know about smtp mode. Why use view.exe? I do that because I'm running widows and it is nice to use my own editor I love to write my smtp messages. The nos editor sucks; but it's better than nothing, almost... So here is what you do if you plan to use an external mailer. In your autoexec.nos put a line in that is like this: smtp mode queue Then make sure you have a \spool\rqueue directory. Then re-configure your view.exe to use that directory. Your home free! I don't have recient experiance with the other external mailers but I have heard about problems...if you want to try view it can be obtained by FTP from the ucsd.edu /hamradio/packet/tcpip/incoming directory and have fun... 73, de karl k5di@k5di.nm.usa.na ------------------------------ End of TCP-Group Digest V94 #83 ******************************
